Rural property market ‘volatile’ with summer weather
Real Estate Institute of NZ (REINZ) gives its rural and lifestyle sale figures once a month to aid those keeping an eye on properties.
Brian Peacocke, director of REINZ, joined Rural Exchange to review the latest stats for rural and lifestyle property properties across the country.
Mr Peacocke’s organisation saw record numbers of properties go up with the summer heat, particularly in the Southland and the Waikato regions.
“So weather, if it’s extraordinarily frustrating, it can drive the decision to sell,” he told RadioLIVE.
‘When you get the mix of volatility and prices and then you get quite a strong supply of property, you get the corresponding surges of price and demand in those regions.”
