Kelvin Davis talks TPP, prisons and Manus Island.
Acting Prime Minister Kelvin Davis joins the AM show to discuss the TPP trade negotiations and what concessions have been gained for New Zealand, as well as the ongoing refugee crisis in Manus Island.
What’s happening on Manus Island is unacceptable.
“We’ve put the offer of 150 refugees.”
The acting Prime Minister also spoke in his capacity as Corrections Minister, saying our “prison population is skyrocketing” and reaffirmed Labour's pledge to reduce prison populations by 30% over 15 years.
Mr Davis wouldn’t comment directly on whether the government will pull the plug on National’s planned $1b plan to build a new prison, but says it is “not their preferred option.”
