Character of the Country: Tim Black

Rural Exchange 18/11/2017

With the Canterbury A&P Show entering its 155th year, some participants have been loyal participants for years.

For Tim Black, the show’s senior vice president, the Canterbury A&P Show is a family tradition. Mr Black’s father has been involved in the show for over 70 years.

Mr Black joins Sarah Perriam at the show as this week’s Character of the Week to discuss the wool industry and his long-standing involvement with the show.

The show’s senior VP has always been passionate about wool and its industry. “Wool is a fantastic fibre,” he says.

In upcoming projects, Mr Black will be working on bringing woollen carpets and even woollen pillows to New Zealand.

It’s very hard in New Zealand to buy woollen carpets.

Tim will take a step up next year as the show’s president.
