Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
This weekend the Green Party’s leader James Shaw announced their ‘game-changing’ policy to raise $135 million from ‘polluting dairy farmers’.
“We will invest in the Sustainable Farming Fund, create a Transformational Farming Partnership Fund, support organic farming and growing, and establish a ‘Good Food Aotearoa NZ’ national sustainability accreditation scheme so that farmers aren’t left high and dry,” says James Shaw in his press conference from a woolshed in the North Island.
The Rural Exchange team spoke to Eugenie Sage, the environment spokesperson for the Green Party on the details of the proposed policy and what it means for the sector.
