Why farmers have always cared about water & the environment
Mike Petersen in his new role as the NZ Special Agricultural Trade Envoy spending a lot of time overseas in our key markets the international consumers can’t understand why there's so much media attention around clean rivers in a country they perceive as one of the pristine in the world.
But Mike says the Farmers Pledge formed earlier this year, not this week pre-election as the media have bantered, are a group that represents 80% of the primary sector in one room making a concerted effort to continue efforts to support the same mission every New Zealand demands - 100% pure, clean swimmable rivers.
Mike also talks to the Rural Exchange team about his grave concern in the difference of trade policies across our political parties when we have gained so much traction for a country who exports over 90% of our products.
