If you haven't seen Carmen... it's a tragedy

Vital and dangerous, Carmen is a woman who will be free at any cost, setting the path to the opera’s gripping conclusion.

Carmen is a world renowned opera, set in southern Spain and tells the story of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who is seduced by the wiles of the fiery gypsy Carmen.

New Zealand Opera's production by Lindy Hume – well known here for her brilliantly theatrical productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, Rigoletto and La cenerentola – is sexy and sensual with all the things you would expect from Bizet’s ravishing opera.
