The Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) started in New Zealand last year and handles computer security incidents.
Director Rob Pope from CERT joins Vaughn Davis to discuss the importance of cybersecurity.
He describes it as a government agency which allows people to report an incident in a single coordinating point, used to improve cybersecurity.
As technology's improved as digital literacy, we've become increasingly reliant on technology.
We start to see there's a necessity for NZ as a whole to coordinate issues that impact ordinary New Zealanders, and to give them confidence when reporting an incident, Mr Pope says.
NZ can't isolate itself from cyber issues, whatever happens on the other side of the world can have an equal impact on NZ.
