Housing Minister Phil Twyford has announced the first of the Government's KiwiBuild homes.
It's purchased 29 hectares of land at Unitec's Mt Albert campus in Auckland, about 9km from the city's CBD.
Around 3000 to 4000 homes are expected to be built there.
National Party Housing Spokesperson Judith Collins told James Coleman on First at Five it's all smoke and mirrors.
“Mr Twyford has become the Minister of re-badging housing projects and today’s announcement of the Unitec development is another example," she told RadioLIVE.
Minister for Housing Phil Twyford also joined James Coleman to talk about the new announcement and to respond to Judith Collins' claim that it's all smoke and mirrors.
“Having done virtually nothing in the last nine years now apparently KiwiBuild is National’s idea - it’s unbelievable,” Mr Twyford told First@Five.
