Should aiding a person's suicide be a crime?
Evans Mott is alleged to have researched suicide methods for his wife, Rosemary Mott, who was suffering from an aggressive form of Multiple Sclerosis. He is also alleged to have assembled a kit for her to use to kill herself.
Mrs Mott decided to end her life after her health deteriorated, reports The Herald. She waited until the birth of a grandchild, spent her final Christmas with her family, before ending her own life, by herself, alone.
Mr Mott has since been charged with assisting a suicide, a crime that carries a 14-year maximum sentence.
Should Mr Mott have been charged? What would you have done in his situation?
