Should beneficiaries see their payments fall if they test positive for recreational drugs?
Bill English mooted the idea of drug testing at a Federated Farmers conference at the weekend and the Prime Minister has, so far, not ruled it out.
Speaking to Marcus Lush this morning, John Key said they would change the law to allow Work and Income to reduce benefits for those found to be using recreational drugs.
"If the reason you are not work-ready is because you are recreationally taking drugs, that should be or could be a reason for sanctions to be applied," reasoned the PM.
Should beneficiary drug-testing be mandatory?
