Best War Movie? "Dark Blue World". Sad but Stirring WWII movie from Czechoslovakia. Czech with subtitles (until the Czech pilots join the RAF in Britain) then mostly English. Spitfire aerial scenes, the sound engineer was an aviation enthusiast and put mics all over the Spit. You can hear the gear doors drum and the uplock hooks latching and the jangle of spent rounds flowing over the wing. Used colourised previously unpublished "Battle of Britain" footage. Love interest and flash forwards to the cruel ironic imprisonment of the Czech war heros on their return to their now Russian run homeland.
