Gone are the days of manually tracking cows. A new digital solution now offers dairy farmers a way to monitor their stock with just a tap on an iPad.
SenseTime, technology developed by SCR Dairy (recently acquired by animal tag company Allflex), allows farmers to make data-driven decisions for maximized productivity.
Shane McManaway, CEO of Allflex, joins Rural Exchange in the studio to discuss the revolutionary technology.
“We are looking to reduce labour, reducing costs and increasing individual cow production.”
Farmers can choose between a collar or ear tag device to collect their cows’ data.
Technology is moving at great pace.
SenseTime takes data from the cows to send real-time reports and alerts to farmers. Farmers instantly are informed on reproductive, health, nutritional and wellbeing status of individual cows and groups.
“This technology is ideally suited to the New Zealand dairy industry - more now than ever,” says Mr McManaway.
