Farmers from throughout the country were invited to join the 2017 Mint Lamb Competition for its 11th year at the Canterbury A&P Show.
Paul and Kay Gardner won the title of the Mint Lamb Competition this year with a purebred Texel.
Richard Loe chats with Paul Gardner at the Canterbury Show on what it takes to win the competition for the tastiest lamb and how he had gone about breeding it.
“The Texel is renowned for its muscling,” says Mr Gardner on his winning lamb breed. “It’s also renowned for its taste.”
Absolutely beautiful when it’s cooked.
This is the Gardners’ second win of the competition, after they took the title in 2014.
