This year’s Canterbury A&P Show is in its 155th year, anticipating over 100,000 people to walk through the gates.
Minister of Agriculture Damien O'Connor joins Richard Loe at the show to discuss the Ministry’s plans to deal with alternative proteins, biosecurity issues, among other topics.
“Do you think we need to tighten our borders?” Loe asks Mr O’Connor.

Mr O’Connor explains that his Ministry needs to give biosecurity more focus, a little more autonomy and more resource.
“And we are going to toughen up,” he says.
