DAVE MOORE: Jeep builds the world's fastest SUV

Injected with an unmatched 527kW courtesy of a supercharged 6.2-litre Chrysler Hemi V8 engine, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been transformed into the Trackhawk - the most powerful and quickest SUV ever, and it’s set to arrive in New Zealand in 2018.

The Trackhawk Cherokee uses an upgraded high-torque-capacity TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, and is fitted with new Brembo brakes.

The Trackhawk thunders to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, and sprints to the standing quarter mile in 11.6 seconds with a terminal velocity of 186kmh. Top speed is 290kmh, while drivers will be able to stop from 100kmh in 36 metres and achieve 0.88g on the skid pad.

Just the job for dropping the kids off at school in the morning.
