Shirley Horrocks, director of Paul Callaghan: Dancing with Atoms joins Graeme in a discussion about the life and legacy of one of New Zealand’s finest scientists and visionaries, Paul Callaghan.
The film is screening at the New Zealand International Film Festival.
Sir Paul Callaghan was a physicist, science communicator, entrepreneur and was named New Zealander of the Year in 2011.
He passed away in 2012 due to cancer.
Sir Paul was a leader in his field of nuclear magnetic resonance, and was on a mission to share his vision of a predator free New Zealand.
Interviews with Sir Paul showcased in the film took place in 2010, prior to his passing.
The film focuses on Sir Paul Callaghan’s entire life, beginning with his childhood in Whanganui all the way to his work at Victoria University, Massey University and then at the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology.
