2018 saw the national wine awards receive a bit of a makeover thanks to New Zealand Winegrowers.
The New Zealand Wine of the Year Awards replaced the Air New Zealand Wine Awards and the Bragato Wine Awards, two of the industry’s major wine competitions.
Results were announced in early October, with the eight major trophies announced on Saturday night.
New Zealand Wine of the Year Champion for 2018 was the Maude Pinot Noir Central Otago 2017.
Wine-maker Sarah-Kate Dineen from Maude wines joined Rural Exchange to discuss the awards ceremony last night, and the ever-evolving grape-growing industry.
