The CEO who led the investigation into the country’s animal tracing system and M bovis response has resigned.
OSPRI CEO Michelle Edge has resigned, though she will remain in her position until September.
OSPRI is a partnership between primary industry and Government, and works to verify data from the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) scheme to help MPI ensure compliance
Ms Edge authored a report into NAIT that found a lack of compliance with the system had slowed and complicated the Mycoplasma bovis response effort.
OSPRI chairman Jeff Grant told RadioLIVE that Ms Edge made a big contribution in reshaping OSPRI.
- MPI science advisor: ‘I wouldn’t wish M bovis on my worst enemy’
- Farmers not complying with NAIT will be prosecuted – Damien O’Connor
Mr Grant clarified that OSPRI is not in charge of the animal tracing system, but rather assists MPI with the data around compliance.
