Weekend Treats: Queijadas de Leite

Pedro Marcelino from Nata Portuguese Bakery in Auckland brought in these incredible custard tarts, the perfect sweet treat before Christmas.

Here's how to make them at home:

Ingredients:

500ml Milk
50g Butter, unsalted
400g Sugar
100g Flour
2 Eggs

Makes 18.

Method:

  1. Boil around 70% of the milk with the butter.
  2. Mix the leftover milk with the sugar, flour and eggs. Slowly add the boiled milk while mixing.
  3. Grease 18 molds very well and them fill them not to close to the top since during the cooking they will boil.
  4. Setup the oven for 170 degrees, put them in for about 30-35 minutes.
