Mark Southon from O'Connell Street Bistro in Auckland's CBD has just released his first book, titled 'Southon Cooking'. He talks with Mitch Harris.
After training at many Michelin star restaurants in Europe, Mark Southon embarked on his culinary tour down under.
From there, he landed a prestigious position at Vue de Monde - Australia's top restaurant for the past two years running. He then fell in love with New Zealand and his continued his illustrious career here.
After working and playing hard at Wai waterfront restaurant in Queenstown, he moved to Auckland to work at the well-renouned restaurant The French Cafe with Simon Wright.
Now at the helm of the iconic O'Connell Street Bistro in Auckland CBD, a new challenge begins.
Mark is already a star of 5 TV shows, including Food TV's The Foodstore Chefs, The Best of NZ Food, Monteith's Wild Food Challenge and he is resident chef on TV3's morning show The Cafe.
He has just published his first cookbook titled 'Southon Cooking', a celebration of New Zealand ingredients from land and sea.
