Disgraced entertainer Bill Cosby will spend at least three years behind bars after he was sentenced for sexual assault.
In April, the 81-year-old comedian was found guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a one-time friend.
On Wednesday morning (NZ time), Judge Steven O'Neill said Mr Cosby is a "sexually violent predator" who would serve between three and 10 years behind bars.

Lisa Bloom, the attorney who represented Janice Dickinson, who alleges Mr Cosby drugged and raped her in 1982, told RadioLIVE’s Wendyl Nissen that Ms Dickinson felt “absolutely elated” when the sentence was announced.
“Janice went to court, to Pennsylvania from Los Angeles, to sit in at the sentencing hearing with some of the other Cosby survivors.
“She had a statement that she was prepared to read, though the judge did not allow any of them to read statements except the primary accuser who the case was about, Andrea Constand,” she said.
Ms Bloom posted some of Ms Dickinson’s statement on Twitter.
Her statement reads: “The harrowing memory of the rape continues to this day. I have reoccurring nightmares, I wake up in fear, I fear the dark.
The rape shattered my ability to trust.
Ms Dickinson outlines she struggles to talk to her husband of six years about her experience with Mr Cosby.
During the sentencing, Ms Constand read a powerful victim impact statement, saying Mr Cosby had "crushed" her spirit.
Behind Ms Constand, sitting in the second row, Ms Dickinson laughed loudly and slowly as the judge announced Mr Cosby’s sentence in court.
“See, I got the last laugh pal,” Ms Dickinson said, staring straight at Mr Cosby.
The US comedian will face "total confinement" and will be placed on the sex offender's registry.
