Estrogen is good for heart health, mood and energy, and in women it is responsible for the development and regulation of the reproductive system, but when the body has deficient or excessive estrogen, with no counterbalancing hormone, it is called Estrogen dominance.
Carly Flynn is joined by Holistic Wellness Expert Dr Kathleen Schubert on Saturday Fresh who encourages people to take a more holistic approach to health, and explains the cause and effect of Estrogen dominance.
Symptoms of Estrogen dominance in men include a low libido, weight gain, headaches, low mood or anxiety, low sperm counts, and male cancers. For women it includes all of the previous symptoms as well as female cancers, painful breasts, uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine cells, hot flushes, heavy periods, acne, oily skin or hair, and PMS.
Aging is a natural cause for Estrogen Dominance, but there are other contributing factors including chemicals, stress and diet.
