'The Middle East is burning' - counter-terrorism expert on Trump's Jerusalem move

Last week, US President Donald Trump officially recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Since his announcement, there has been widespread criticism and claims that his move will encourage terrorist attacks.

Dr Matt Levitt, an expert on counter-terrorism and intelligence, joins Wendyl Nissen on Afternoon Talk.

The bottom line is the Middle East is burning.

But Dr Levitt says President Trump's move is not as groundbreaking as people may think.

He says the Israeli/Palestinian issue was a big part of Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign.

Dr Levitt is in New Zealand on a speaking tour and is a guest of the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council.
