The Corsini collection has never been seen outside Florence and includes masterpieces by Caravaggio and Botticelli. Senior curator Mary Kisler walks Graeme around the collection.
The Corsini family came to Florence in the 14th century, and the art is currently at the Auckland Art Gallery - but some paintings were too fragile or large to travel here.
Mary finds this exhibition like a window into their lives, and the collection has just grown.
"It's not so much telling a story, it's capturing a moment before something happens".
