The finalists for the 2017 NZ Innovation Awards have been announced, representing game changing innovation from every corner of the country. This is the seventh year for the Awards, and there are over 80 finalists across 22 categories.
Andy Blackburn, Director of the New Zealand Innovation Council, joined Ali Mau and said that the awards are a way to recognise and support New Zealand's innovators, who do it because they are passionate and often don't get a salary.
One of the stand out entries this year include Squawk Squad, which is an app that connects people to native bird sanctuaries. People can invest in sensor-connected traps, and get notified in real-time when their trap activates, to make a positive impact on the native birdlife.
Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for when voting opens for the RadioLIVE People's Choice Award on Tuesday, September 12th. All of the stories of the finalists will be available for you to pick and vote for your favourite.
