Sitting barely two metres above sea on average, Kiribati is a nation that is sinking.
Former president Anote Tong joined The AM Show ahead of his documentary 'Anote's Ark' playing at the Doc Edge Festival in Auckland.
The film looks at what's happening to his disappearing country, and if New Zealand is doing enough for the pacific.
Mr Tong says if they could, they would love to stay on their own islands… “I’ve come to the brutal realisation that might not happen.”
