Fisher family farm near Fairlie for over a century

Rural Exchange 08/04/2018

Autumn beef calves continue to be hot property on the back of a shortage of beef cows and the improved position of beef.

The Fisher family have over 1,500 Angus cows in the back blocks of the Mackenzie Country at Shenley Station.

Rit Fisher has been nominated for this week’s Character of the Country by none other than the character himself, Peter Walsh.

Mr Fisher spoke to Rural Exchange about his family, who have been farming near Fairlie for over a century.

Peter Walsh, livestock broker for Peter Walsh & Associates, also joined Rural Exchange to talk about the historic annual sale at Temuka, of which Mr Walsh is conducting on behalf of the Fisher family for Shenley Station.
