Minister for Health, David Clark has been under fire this week on The AM Show over the hotly debated decision to effectively pull vital services from places like Taupo and Te Anau.
A fortnight ago, Rural Exchange spoke to first responder Simon O’Neill, who is heavily involved.
Since then, the mayors of various regions have met with the minister and won back the right to be part of the future air ambulance service.
Mr O'Neill, a first responder at Ruapehu, caught up with the Rural Exchange team to discuss the new movements around keeping rescue helicopters in the regions.
