Leading up to the 2018 Aorangi Young Farmers Regional Final held in Waimate last night the story was the battle of the McAtamney brothers.
But in an exciting upset it was chairman for the region Cameron Black who scored himself a place in the prestigous 50th Grand Final.
Rural consultant by day, Mr Black had to go through a lot of preparation for the agri-skills modules.
"It was something I knew I had to brush up on," he said. "Under the watchful eye of my father, he put me through my paces."
On top of competing, as Chairman Mr Black played a large role in organising the event.
He thanked all the volunteers at the event, saying "it all went together well and the Waimate put on a great show."
