The kiwifruit grower who became a 2018 Nuffield Scholar

Rural Exchange 18/03/2018

New Zealand's most respected and prestigious award in the Primary Industry sector went to Simon Cook,  a kiwifruit grower from Te Puke.

The newly named Nuffield Scholar joined Rural Exchange to discuss his background in kiwifruit and how he came named as a 2018 scholar.

The farmer, who owns and manages kiwifruit contracting business Ranfurly Orchard Services, is a third-generation kiwifruit grower.

Mr Cook and his wife grow both green and gold kiwifruit, and recently began growing avocado trees.

The five new 2018 scholars join more than 140 New Zealand agricultural leaders who have been awarded a Nuffield Scholarship, who are expected to assume greater influence in their industries.
