School-gen encourages kids into energy careers

Rural Exchange 25/03/2018

Genesis Energy is heavily involved in the company’s hero community initiative School-gen.

School-gen aims to get young New Zealanders interested in science, engineering, technology and maths while learning cool stuff about energy.

Ultimately it’s about helping them build the skills and knowledge they will need for the jobs of the future.

Jenny Burke is the Community Investment Manager for Genesis Energy and joined Rural Exchange in the studio to discuss the community initiative.

She says from a rural perspective, all the School-gen resources are freely available on the website.

They are curriculum-linked resources and activities that will get kids interested in science, tech, engineering and maths.

Genesis Energy says the activities aren’t just for in-class, they’re things kids can make and do on their own or with their parents.
