Move over lumberjacks, the lumberjills are in town

Rural Exchange 25/03/2018

The Royal Easter Show hits Auckland this Easter weekend and coinciding with the event is the 175th Auckland A&P Show.

One of the main highlights of the entertainment is Timber Tina's Great Maine Lumberjack Show.

The Rural Exchange team caught up with Tina ahead of her visit to New Zealand.

Growing up in Hayward, Wisconsin, Tina started log rolling at the tender age of 7 years old.

She performed in her family’s Scheer’s Lumberjack Show for over 15 years before she branched off on her own in 1995 to start The Great Maine Lumberjack Show, a permanent based logging sports exhibition facility located in Trenton, Maine.

That same year Tina founded the World Champion Lumberjills and Chics with Axes - the 1st and original all-women logging sports travelling exhibition.

Between 1990 and 2005, Tina was the Master of Ceremonies for Stihl Timbersports Series on ESPN.

She is the only logging sports athlete to be selected to appear on the hit reality TV show Survivor: Panama–Exile Island.

In 2014, Tina also starred in season two of National Geographic Channel's Ultimate Survival Alaska.
