Wendyl Nissen's guest for Weekend Treats this week is 'I love food' co founder and direstor Jessie Stanley and hr is her oaty slice recipe for you to bake this weekend.
Mum's Sesame oaty slice by Jessie Stanley. This is my mum’s recipe that I would love to share – it’s surprisingly simple and so crispy, delicious and moreish. It’s the easiest thing in the world to make. It’s perfect to have in the tins on a weekend if someone comes over for a cuppa.
1 tablespoon golden syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
250 gm brown sugar
Cook on low heat until the above mixture is well blended.
175g rolled oats. Rub about half by hand as you pour them into the bowl as this allows a finer texture and better end result.
50 g desiccated coconut
25g roasted and slightly crushed sesame seed
Mix well and flatten mixture into lined 23 x 34cm tray
Cook at 150 degrees for aprox 30 mins until golden brown. Remove from oven and cut through slice while hot then leave to cool before breaking apart.
Additional and optional extras:
Toasted pumpkin seeds
