Night talk - Mitch Harris opening comments, Wednesday 6th June.

Tonight: is there any point of having beauty competitions without judging on a contestant's looks? The next edition of the renowned Miss America event in 2019 will be the first to not feature models strutting their stuff in swimsuits in nearly 100 years.

Instead of being a beauty pageant, the event will now be a competition, says Miss America Organisation chairwoman Gretchen Carlson.

"We will no longer judge our candidates on their outward physical appearance. We are moving it forward and evolving it in this cultural revolution," Ms Carlson said on Good Morning America.

Night Talk with Mitch Harris, 8pm - 12am Monday-Thursday nights on RadioLIVE, and streaming live to the rova app on Android and iPhone.
