Virginia has become a flagbeaerer for change in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Maxwell Nardi, an 18-year-old senior at Douglas S. Freeman High School in Richmond, wants action to be taken to protect American students from shootings.
Along with participating in last week's National Student Walkout in the US, Mr Nardi is helping to organise another school walkout in Virgina on April 20 - which is also the 19th anniversary of the Columbine massacre.
Mr Nardi told Wendyl Nissen on The Long Lunch that students have had enough of the mindless killings.
He said they're not going to stop until something is done to curb the rate of school shootings in the United States.
