Research shows only 1% of those on parental leave are dads

Research from Otago University shows that only 1% of the current 34,000 Kiwis on parental leave are men.

So why is that?

Otago University law professor Mark Henaghan said research showed that having a man as a primary caregiver could be beneficial for the child and the government should look to do more to help parents who want to stay home with their kids.
