Doc Edge Festival is New Zealand’s premiere film festival and it’s back for 2018!
The festival, which programmes over 70 stunning films, launches at Wellington’s Roxy Cinema from 9th - 20th May before heading to Auckland’s Q Theatre from 23rd May– 4th June.
Dan Shannan and Alex Lee, the Festival Directors, join Ryan Bridge and Lisa Owen on Drive to give a festival preview ahead of opening night on May 9th.
One of the most exciting films in the festival this year is the George Michael: The Director’s Cut; a behind-the-scenes look of the incredible life of George Michael. The film is still being edited as we speak, and features never before seen footage.
Dan and Alex are very much involved in the selection process for the festival.
There are about 1000 films submitted that they have to choose from which are chosen not just for the story but also for their appeal to a New Zealand audience.
- Dan’s pick: Whispering Truth to Power.
- Alex’s pick: Believer.
