Sheep shearer set for Golden Sheers win


It’s not all about the young bucks!

The 78-year old sheep shearer, Hugh McCarroll, formerly of Tauranga, now Whangamata, was in action last night at the opening day of this year’s Golden Shears at the war memorial hall in Masterton where the championships have been held every year since the event was established in 1961 and now he’s through to the finals tonight. 

Stephen McIvor chats with Mr McCarrol on his illustrous career and finds out how many sheep he can sheer in a minute.
