'An Auckland wage will make things worse not better'

Drive 02/02/2018

Because Auckland is an expensive city to live should the essential services like teachers and nurses that live and work in Auckland get paid more than counterparts from other parts of the country?

The idea of an Auckland wage was mooted by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, but will it work?

One man who does not think so is CTU President Richard Wagstaff. He says introducing a different wage to one particular area of New Zealand will have a host of unintended consequences.

Mr Wagstaff joins Ali Mau on RadioLIVE Drive along with Kim Campbell from the Employment and Manufacturers Association to debate the idea of an Auckland wage.

Listen to both interviews above.

Drive with Ali Mau, 3pm - 6pm Weekdays and streaming live on 'rova' channel 9 - available on Android and iPhone.
