Preparing 80 horses ahead of the National Yearling Sales

Rural Exchange 27/01/2018

One Waikato man is prepping his horses for the big event of the year - the National Yearling Sales Series in Karaka.

Mark Chittick, owner of Waikato Stud, joined Rural Exchange to discuss the hard work involved in setting his team and animals up for success.

Waikato Stud is a Thoroughbred nursery based in Matamata, dedicated to “the breeding, rearing and development of elite racehorses.”

Mr Chittick will be bringing 80 sterlings to the New Zealand Bloodstock along with a team of 45 staff members to help sell the horses.

We’ve got four minutes to try to sell these horses as best we can.

“We’ve been up and flat out since Tuesday,” he told RadioLIVE.

Mr Chittick prepares his staff by reminding that “it takes two years to get here, and we’ve got four minutes to try to sell these horses as best we can.”
