07/11/2017

Auckland University senior marketing lecturer Bodo Lang joins the AM show to talk about the science of fads-what makes them start? What makes them end?

Bodo Lang defines a fad as a short lived enthusiasm, rising very quickly in popularity and falling away in a period of six months to a year.

Were novelty seekers, were just looking for new things.

"The key factor is easy enough to pick up, it can become a fad, but if it’s too easy to master then it dies out very quickly."
