Jacinda Ardern: 'It was a knife edge negotiation'

Jacinda Ardern is poised to lead the country after the Labour Party negotiated a coalition agreement with New Zealand First and the Greens.

In the space of just over two months Ms Ardern has swept the party back into power after nine years in opposition.

The Prime Minister-elect joined The AM Show this morning.

“I found out at the time that all New Zealanders found out, so I feel like we had a joint experience together.”

It is fair to say that it was a knife edge negotiation.

"I absolutely believe it was a difficult decision for New Zealand First and of course I thank them for seeing the common ground that we share and allowing me the privilege and the honour of leading the future government."

The AM Show with Duncan Garner, Amanda Gillies and Mark Richardson, weekdays 6-9am on RadioLIVE and streaming live to the ROVA app on Android and iPhone.
