Lack of pet daycare regulations cost my dog’s life
When Natalie Newton dropped off her beloved British bulldog Tank to a pet daycare facility in December she didn’t think for a second that it would be the last time she would see him alive.
Sadly that is exactly the case when Tank died from unknown causes while at doggie daycare.
An autopsy from a vet determined the most likely cause of death was heatstroke.
His death has prompted Mrs Newton to call for more regulation in the sector. She joined Ali Mau on RadioLIVE Drive.
Tank was rushed to a vet on 29 December but he had suffered a massive heart attack and died.
Mrs Newton says his loss was devastating.
To lose a young dog, he wasn't even three, was quite a shock to our whole family.
And to talk about what to look for when choosing a pet daycare centre, Andrea Midgen, chief executive of the SPCA also spoke to Ali Mau.
