Climate change is slowly but surely whittling away places which could host the Winter Games.
By 2050, many previous host locations will be far too warm to host the games again.
Dr Daniel Scott, geography professor at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, joins Lloyd Burr to discuss the study that led to this conclusion.
Dr Scott led a team of researchers to take climate data from previous Winter Games cities around the world to predict future winter weather conditions.
“Only about 8 of those 21 cities would still be cold enough to host the games reliably by the end of the century,” he says.
Russia, Germany and Canada are on the “not reliable” list.
