Environews: Our rarest birds in the country
Our two rarest birds, the Fairy Tern and the Kakapo live on opposite ends of the country.
Fairy Terns from the North are only about 40 individuals left, with problems like loss of habitat and environmental factors.
The Kakapo from the South are around 154 left, now with 80% being island breed birds living in a sanctuary.
Graeme discusses why the population may be decreasing and what we are doing to help.
