Care needed at workplace Christmas parties
Workplace Christmas parties and functions are popping up left, right and centre.
A University of Otago survey of one thousand employers and employees in New Zealand found that things can go wrong at workplace social parties and events when alcohol is involved.
Professor Ian McAndrew from the University of Otago Business School joined Trudi Nelson for Afternoon Talk to discuss why booze and workplace events don’t always mix well.
[Employers] can be held liable if things go wrong.
Prof. McAndrew says twenty-five per cent of those surveyed said they had experienced problems at workplace functions.
He suggests businesses put good practices in place to keep staff safe.
