Facebook and Police team up for new 'Amber Alert' system
New Zealand Police and Facebook are launching a new missing persons system, to quickly notify the public when a child or young person is missing and in danger.
The AMBER Alerts system was launched at Police National Headquarters in Wellington on Thursday.
Amber Alerts will see every Facebook user within a 160km radius of where a child has gone missing receive an alert activated by police.
Director of Trust & Safety at Facebook, Emily Vacher, joins Leah Panapa to discuss how the system works.
