Auckland to host World Beard and Moustache Championships
New Zealand is set to host the World Beard and Moustache Championships for the first time.
The competition will be making its way down under in 2021, previously being held in North America and Europe.
The event will be hosted by the Fellowship of the Beard, in conjunction with the Auckland Convention Bureau and Tourism New Zealand.
Ygnacio Cervio, Fellowship of the Beard president, dropped by our studio to talk about the event.
The competition will include over 500 participants and ranges across 16 categories, from ‘Dali Moustache’ to ‘Imperial Beard’ and ‘Crowd Favourite’.
For those who can’t wait four years for their competitive facial hair fix, The national NZ beard and moustache competition will be held October 27 in Auckland at the Kings Arms tavern.
In preparation for the event, our office held an in-house competition to see which staff member seemed like the strongest contender.
If any of our listeners think they can top Mark’s iconic Mo’ or Jeremy's mighty beard, send us your entries @RadioLive on Facebook and Twitter.
