'You're stronger for it' - mother of cot death victim
In 1981 the rate of cot death in New Zealand was four in every 1,000 live births. Four-month-old Alexander was one of them, and now 35 years later brings the release of book After Alexander.
Author Jan Pryor joins Carly Flynn on Saturday Fresh.
Ms Pryor is Alexander's mother and the writer of After Alexander: The Legacy of a Son, which blends her personal experience of losing a child with the professional understanding of family dynamics and children’s development.
It chronicles his life and death, and tells of how the family came to terms with his loss.
If you come through those challenges in a way that feels good then there's no doubt, you're stronger.
Ms Pryor hopes that others can look back at the challenges they've faced in life and realise that they can be stronger for it.
