‘About 100,000 haven’t been diagnosed yet’ – Diabetes NZ CEO
Some of the country’s most famous faces and top business minds are stepping up to the plate this February for the Diabetes NZ annual Fitbit MoveMeant Challenge, including our very own Carly Flynn!
Heather Verry, CEO of Diabetes NZ, joins Carly Flynn on Saturday Fresh.
The challenge aims to raise awareness of diabetes in New Zealand and promote an active lifestyle.
Ms Verry says that there are about 300,000 people in New Zealand who are living with diabetes, and shockingly there is potentially up to 100,000 undiagnosed cases.
Nearly 40 people a day are being diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes.
